Why you should never sacrifice on quality to keep costs down
Signage companies who use low-quality materials have done plenty of damage to our industry’s reputation.
It’s because people look at the cost first and quality second when trying to put up a sign.
We always say quality is the most important part of any signage or printing project.
A quality sign will look just as good over its lifespan as it did when it was first put up.
And as the signage market becomes more competitive, it’s up to the industry leaders to really enforce quality.
Working quality into your budget
Do you have budget constraint? I’ll always point clients in the direction of choosing the best quality available for their budget rather than just doing the cheapest sign possible.
Sometimes it might require compromising.
Let’s say your budget is 60% of what it’s going to cost to do the job you want well.
Our job is to point you in the right direction and propose a slightly different sign that doesn’t sacrifice on quality, rather than compromising on materials to get the job you want to be done cheaply, only for problems to arise soon after it’s up.
The importance of quality over cost
Many industries have fallen victim to this.
The clothing industry, for example, has attempted to profit by selling cheap clothes that emulate designer items, that are made with poor quality materials and questionable labour practices.
It’s an epidemic of the current market climate: as things get cheaper, their quality gets worse and the industry’s reputation goes down the drain. That’s why, for me, the quality of a sign always comes first.
That’s why as industry leaders, it’s our job to always promote quality over cost, so the signage industry doesn’t get hit with a “cheap and nasty” reputation.
